Should I use a component cable or Toslink audio?
I bought a component cable for my PS2 to connect to my HDTV. I have a Toslink (optical fiber cable digital audio). Now I wonder, if I connect my or my Toslink audio cable (component cable) my surround sound system amp? I read somewhere that no Toslink Dolby Surround sound, only 2 channels? Is this true? Toslink I was the better of the two audio cables?
If by "my audio cable (component cable)" means a single coaxial digital audio cable (this will be the same thickness as the wires red, green and blue), no matter. coaxial digital audio and Toslink do exactly the same bits. There can be subtle benefits works in one or another in certain circumstances, in particular, a coaxial much greater distance. But if they work at all they are the same data. If you say analog stereo red and white two, then by all means use Toslink.> I have read somewhere that does not have Toslink Dolby Surround, "only 2 channels? Is this true? Absolutely, positively NOT true. Toslink (digital audio and Coaxial) has Dolby stereo, a / k / a / AC3, DTS and the sound very well. The only thing in the way your current HT Toslink – Digital Coaxial Audio O – Both called "S / PDIF" by the way – can not do without loss is the new 8-channel (7.1), Dolby. Unless you have L and R side, and rear left speaker and a receiver that can handle HDMI audio instead of just sending the HDMI signal to your TV, this will not affect at all. But all I can do that sort of thing is HDMI. Coaxial and Toslink could really do the work (to be another protocol S / PDIF), but refuses to grant Dolby licensed person to carry out anything other than HDMI.
